There are four major ad platforms. You only need to master one to start: Meta. This lesson explains each platform like you're choosing a weapon in a video game — what it's good at, what it's bad at, and when to unlock the next one.

🎮 1. Think of Platforms Like Weapons

In a video game, you don't pick up every weapon at once. You master one, then unlock the next. Ad platforms work the same way. Meta is your starter weapon — it works for everything and it's the easiest to learn. You only add Google, TikTok, or YouTube when you've got Meta dialed in and the client has budget for more.

📱 2. The Four Platforms Explained

📘
Meta (Facebook + Instagram)
Your #1 platform. Start here. Stay here for most clients.
Easiest to learn Lowest cost to start Works for every niche Best for local business

How it works: You create an ad with an image or video, pick who sees it (location, age, interests), and Meta shows it to those people in their Facebook and Instagram feeds. People see it while scrolling, tap on it, and take an action (call, book, fill out a form).

Why it's the best starter platform: You can start with $10/day. You don't need the client to have a website (Meta Lead Forms work on their own). The AI optimization (Advantage+) is the best in the industry. And 3 billion people use it — your client's customers are on there, guaranteed.

The pizza shop version: Tony doesn't need a website. You create a "Family Pizza Deal" ad with a mouthwatering photo, target everyone within 5 miles who likes pizza, and they tap a button to call Tony directly. Tony gets the phone ringing. Done.

Google Ads (Search + Maps)
The sniper. Catches people who are already searching for what your client sells.
Highest intent leads Harder to learn Higher cost per click Best for service businesses

How it works: Someone types "plumber near me" or "best pizza Tampa" into Google. Your client's ad shows up at the top of the results. They click it and call or visit the website. These people are actively looking for what your client sells — that's why the leads are so good.

Why it's the second platform to add: Google leads are higher quality because the person is already searching. A plumber lead from Google is someone whose pipe just burst — they NEED a plumber right now. A plumber lead from Meta is someone who saw an ad and thought "maybe I should get my pipes checked." Different urgency, different close rate.

When to add it: After your client is profitable on Meta and has budget for both. Google is more expensive per click but the leads close at 2-3x the rate. Good for plumbers, dentists, lawyers, roofers, HVAC — anything people search for when they have an urgent need.

TikTok Ads
The viral grenade. Massive reach for cheap, but only works for the right niches.
Cheapest reach Viral potential Younger audience (18-34) Needs strong video creative

How it works: Short video ads that look like regular TikTok content. If the video is good, it gets massive reach for cheap. The ad needs to feel native — overly polished ads get scrolled past. Phone-recorded, authentic-looking content wins.

Best niches: Restaurants, bars, beauty salons, fitness studios, med spas, ecommerce brands. Basically anything visual where the audience is under 40. Not great for plumbers, lawyers, or B2B.

When to add it: Only when the niche fits AND the client can produce video content regularly. TikTok eats creative fast — you need new videos every 1-2 weeks. If the client can't or won't make videos, skip it.

YouTube Ads
The long-range cannon. Great for retargeting and longer sales cycles.
Massive reach Great for retargeting Needs video production Slower results

How it works: Those ads you see before YouTube videos. Can be 6-second bumper ads (unskippable) or 15-30 second skippable ads. You pick who sees them based on what they're watching, searching, or what websites they've visited.

Best use case: Retargeting. Someone visited your client's website from a Meta ad but didn't book. Now they see a YouTube ad reminding them. This is powerful but it's an advanced move — you need enough website traffic first (at least 1,000 visitors/month).

When to add it: Only after Meta is running well AND the client has video content AND there's enough pixel data for retargeting. This is Module 5 territory. Don't touch it until you've got 3+ clients stable on Meta.

🎯 4. Pick Your Client's Niche — See the Best Platform

🏪 What type of business is your client?

🍕 Restaurant

Primary: Meta — Target within 5-10 mile radius, food lovers, delivery apps users. Use mouthwatering food photos. Lead form or "Call Now" button. $8-15 CPL typical.

Secondary: TikTok — If the restaurant makes good video content (cooking, behind the scenes, food prep). Younger crowd. Can go viral for free.

Skip: Google — Too expensive for restaurants. People search "pizza near me" and pick from Google Maps for free. Not worth paying $3-5 per click when Meta gets you leads for $8.

Budget: $10-20/day on Meta is enough to fill a restaurant.

🔧 Plumber / HVAC

Primary: Meta — Start here. Target homeowners within 15-20 miles. Seasonal offers work great ("AC tune-up before summer — $49"). $12-25 CPL.

Secondary: Google — Add this ASAP. "Emergency plumber near me" is pure gold. These people need help NOW. Higher CPL ($25-60) but they close at 40-60%. Worth every penny.

Skip: TikTok — Nobody's going on TikTok to find a plumber. The audience doesn't match.

Budget: $15/day Meta + $20/day Google = $1,050/month. Client charges $200-500 per job. Math is easy.

🦷 Dentist

Primary: Meta — Target families within 10 miles. Offers like "New patient special: cleaning + exam $79" crush. Before/after photos for cosmetic work. $15-30 CPL.

Secondary: Google — "Dentist near me" and "teeth whitening [city]" are high-intent searches. Expensive ($30-70 CPL) but lifetime patient value is $2,000+. Add once Meta is stable.

Skip: TikTok — Unless they do cosmetic/veneer work with dramatic before-afters. Then it can work for awareness.

Budget: $15-25/day Meta. Dental patient LTV makes almost any CPL profitable.

🏠 Real Estate Agent

Primary: Meta — Property listing ads with carousel photos. Target by location + income + life events (recently engaged, new job). Lead magnets like "Free home valuation" work great. $10-25 CPL.

Secondary: Google — "Homes for sale in [city]" is competitive and expensive. Only add with bigger budgets ($50+/day).

Optional: YouTube — Virtual tour ads retargeting people who viewed listings. Advanced but effective for luxury market.

Budget: $20-30/day Meta. One closed deal ($5-15K commission) pays for a year of ads.

💉 Med Spa / Beauty

Primary: Meta (Instagram-heavy) — Before/after photos are king. Target women 25-55, interested in beauty, skincare, wellness. Offers like "Botox $9/unit this month" drive volume. $12-25 CPL.

Secondary: TikTok — Treatment videos go viral. "Watch this lip filler transformation" content format. Huge for awareness and younger clients.

Skip: Google — Too expensive for most med spas. Meta + TikTok handles it.

Budget: $15-25/day Meta + $10-15/day TikTok. Average treatment is $300-800. Insane margins.

🏋️ Gym / Fitness Studio

Primary: Meta — Target within 5-8 miles (people won't drive far to a gym). Offers like "7-day free trial" or "$1 first month." Transformation photos work. $8-18 CPL.

Secondary: TikTok — Workout clips, member transformations, gym culture content. Great for CrossFit boxes, yoga studios, boutique fitness.

Skip: Google — "Gym near me" just shows Google Maps results. Organic presence matters more than paid here.

Budget: $10-20/day Meta. Member LTV of $600-1,200/year makes the math very forgiving.

⚖️ Lawyer

Primary: Google — This is the one niche where Google beats Meta as the starter. "Personal injury lawyer near me" or "DUI attorney [city]" are extremely high-intent. CPL is expensive ($50-150) but one case is worth $5K-50K+.

Secondary: Meta — Good for retargeting and brand awareness. "Were you injured in an accident?" style ads. Lower CPL but lower quality leads.

Skip: TikTok — Nobody hires a lawyer from TikTok.

Budget: $30-50/day Google minimum. Legal is expensive but the case values justify it.

🛒 Ecommerce

Primary: Meta — Product catalog ads, dynamic retargeting, Advantage+ Shopping campaigns. Meta was literally built for ecommerce. $10-30 CPA depending on product price.

Secondary: TikTok — TikTok Shop is exploding. Product demos, unboxings, "TikTok made me buy it" style. Massive for products under $50.

Third: Google Shopping — Product listing ads when people search for the specific product. Add once Meta/TikTok are profitable.

Budget: $20-50/day Meta. Scale to $100+/day when you find a winner. Ecommerce is a volume game.

🏗️ Roofing / Contractor

Primary: Meta — Target homeowners within 20-30 miles. Seasonal angles ("Storm damage? Free roof inspection"). Before/after project photos. $20-40 CPL.

Secondary: Google — "Roof repair near me" is pure gold. Emergency roof leaks = instant close. $30-80 CPL but job value is $5K-15K.

Skip: TikTok + YouTube — Unless the contractor creates cool time-lapse content. But that's gravy, not the main play.

Budget: $15-25/day Meta + $25/day Google. One roofing job pays for 6 months of ads.

⚡ 5. The One Rule

"Master Meta first. Get your client results on Meta. Make them profitable on Meta. THEN talk about adding Google or TikTok. If you try to run 3 platforms for your first client, you'll do all of them badly. One platform, done well, is worth more than three platforms done poorly."

Everything from lesson 3.4 onwards focuses on Meta. You'll learn Google and TikTok in Module 5 (Advanced). For now, Meta is your world.
